Based in Brighton and Hove, Your Sussex Psychologist offers a high quality, affordable and flexible psychology service to families. I specialise in working with parents and their babies and preschoolers to support bonding and helping parents give their child the best start they can. I know that being a parent/carer is the most important job you will do - but also one of the most challenging at times.I also work families when children and young people are experiencing strong emotions to an extent that it is impacting on their daily life. Through liaising directly with me I can listen to your individual needs and can draw on my years of training, experience and psychological tool kit to find the best way to help your specific situation.

I am based in a clinic in Hove on Thursday mornings. I can also offer online sessions where this is the best way of meeting your needs.

Who am I?

I'm an HCPC registered practitioner psychologist with nearly 20 of experience and further training since qualification. I take self referrals as well as referrals from staff at school or your GP.

I specialise in working with parents and their babies and toddlers:

Bonding and getting to know your baby
Difficulties following trauma and other difficulties
Managing exhaustion and support when your baby doesn't stop crying
Managing toddler tantrums
Managing sleep, feeding, putting in boundaries
When your preschooler finds it difficult to separate from you

I work directly with children and teenagers:

Mild-moderate anxiety (including anxiety related to school, generalised anxiety, social anxiety, separation anxiety, phobias)
Low mood
Phobias
Post trauma symptoms
Low self esteem
Difficulties making and maintaining friendships
Difficulties regulating emotions
Stress, including exam stress, as a result of difficult life events
Coping with bereavement, loss and change

Because I assess and treat the need, children and young people do not need a diagnosis to see me.

I am an independent practitioner. For safeguarding and risk reasons, if anyone in your household is open to children's services or if your child is in crisis, experiencing moderate-severe depression or anxiety, self harm, eating disorders or suicidal thoughts and behaviours, your child would be better supported by a multi-disciplinary team. Therefore please see your GP and discuss a referral to your local Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). In emergency dial 999 or take your child to your local A&E department.
