About

My name is Zubeida Dasgupta and I am an Educational Psychologist (EP) and a Video Interaction Guidance (VIG) practitioner, accredited by AVIGuk. I offer a high quality, affordable and flexible educational psychology service to families, schools, colleges and nurseries.  Through liaising directly with me I can listen to your individual needs and create a tailor made package to help you reach your goals.

Who do I work with?

I am qualified to work with children and young people aged 0-19. Parents, educational staff and other professionals  usually contact me when they have worries or questions about a child or young person's learning, behaviour, emotional or social development.

What do I do?

I think EPs can be most effective when they work with the adults who support the children and young people as well as the children themselves.  I usually work in the home or in the educational establishment so I can experience the environment in which the difficulties happen. It also helps make sure that any interventions are more effective.

I have close links with a range of other professionals (e.g. Speech and Language therapist, Occupational Therapists, Clinical Psychologists, Psychiatrists). When necessary I am able to seek advice, refer on or work jointly with them.

Who am I?

I am an independent psychologist but have experience of working within Educational Psychology Services.  My particular interests include:

  • using the intervention called Video Interaction Guidance (VIG) which I use with parents,  school staff as well as with children and young people themselves.  I am currently training as a supervisor in VIG in order to train VIG practitioners.
  • using 'mindful approaches' as an intervention to promote wellbeing
  • working with children with severe and complex special needs, helping them and those who support them to find effective ways to help them achieve their aspirations.
  • promoting staff wellbeing through training and staff reflective practice groups - this is something I am passionate about.
  • working within a consultation framework when thinking about a child's needs.

I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Practitioner Psychologist and am a member of the British Psychology Society. I also have a Disclosure and Barring Service check.  My work is supervised and I continue to learn through a range of professional development activities.

As a mother of three young children I have experienced first hand the joys and the challenges of bringing up children.
